4 Steps to Install LED Parking Lot Light

Step 1. Loosen Adapter Plate and Rubber Gasket

To begin with, you should detach adapter plate and rubber gasket from the bracket.

Step 2. Fix to the Square/Round Pole Bracket

Now, please make sure the square pole or fixture surface has matching installation holes. Then put square/round pole bracket against to the fixture surface and the rubber gasket between the square/round pole bracket and required fixture surface, then attach the square/round pole bracket to the square pole with bolt.

Attach the bolster plate to the inside surface of the square pole if necessary, then tighten the bolster plate with bolt.

Step 3. Wiring

Push the wire through the hole and square/round pole bracket, protecting the wire from damage. Connect the power wire to the pole wire, making sure the wire and connection are protected, then attach the rubber gasket and junction box cover with a bolt.

Step 4. Tight with Bolt

1. Hanging installation for linear high bay

One method of installation is to suspend the linear LED high bay light using a chain.

Step 1: Disconnect the power supply

To ensure safety, the linear LED high bay light should be installed when the power is disconnected, so the first step is to disconnect the power supply.

Step 2: Wiring

The next step is wiring. There is a junction box on the back of the light fixture. Loosen the screws to open up the cover and retrieve the wires in the box. Connect the black wire to the live wire, the white wire to the neutral wire, and the green wire to the ground.

Aside from these, there are two dimming wires. If you require dimming in daily use, you can connect the dimmer to the two dimming wires. The purple wire represents dimming up and the gray wire represents dimming down. When not working, you can lower the brightness as appropriate to save on electricity. If you do not require the dimming function, the two wires do not have to be used.

After connecting the wires, pass the wires through the holes in the cover and tighten the screws to close up the cover.

Step 3: Hook up the chain

Retrieve the hooks and chain from the accessories, and pass the chain through the hooks, as shown in the figure below.

Attach the hooks to both sides of the light. Now, the linear high bay can be suspended by lifting the chain.

Step 4: Affix the chain onto the rail

Hang the chain onto the crossbar and adjust the length. Now, the linear LED high bay light is suspended successfully. If there is no crossbar installed on the ceiling prior, it must be first installed before the light can be installed. Aside from this method, you can also choose from other methods of the installation below.

Step 5: Connect to the power supply and adjust lighting

Finally, connect to a power supply and adjust the lighting to start using.

2. 3/4 NPT installation for linear high bay light

To use this installation method, first prepare the U-shaped brackets, steel pipe, and matching 3/4 NPT.

Step 1: Disconnect power supply

As with the above method, the first step before installation is to disconnect the power supply.

Step 2: Install the brackets onto the steel pipe

First, install the steel pipe onto the ceiling to suspend it, and then use 3/4 NPT to attach the U-shaped brackets onto the steel pipe.

Step 3: Affix the light onto the brackets

There are holes on both sides of the light fixture. In this step, affix the linear LED high bay light onto the U-shaped bracket with screws. Now the high bay light is suspended successfully.

Then, refer to Steps 2 above for wiring, powering up, and adjusting, to start using.

3. Pendant Installation for LED high bays

This installation method is similar to the second method but requires two U-shaped brackets.

Step 1: Disconnect power supply

When installing the linear LED high bay light, the most important thing to pay attention to is safety, so it must be installed when the power is disconnected.

Step 2: Mount the U-shaped brackets

Here, the two U-shaped brackets must first be affixed to the ceiling or the suspended crossbar. The distance between the two U-shaped brackets depends on the distance between the holes on both sides of the light.

Step 3: Affix the light fixture

Affix the light fixture to the bottom of the U-shaped brackets with screws.

After tightening the screws, the linear LED high bay light can be suspended. Then, refer to Steps 5 and 6 above for wiring and powering up.

Part 1. How to Hang UFO High Bay Light?

Take Lepro UFO LED high bay light as an example, there are 3 ways to mount it depending on the installation conditions.

1. Hook Mount

Step 1. Turning off the power

Before the installation, it’s important to make sure to turn off the power. Do not install when power is still turned on, so as not to get shocked.

Step 2. Wiring

Connect the light’s wire to ac power. The black wire connects to live wire, the white wire connects to the neutral line, and the green wire connects to ground wire. Make sure to not mix the wires to avoid safety hazard.

Step 3. Screwing in the hook hanger

If the ceiling is ready to mount or if the hook is mounted already, UFO high bay light could be mounted directly through the hook. If not, you should drill a hole to mount the hook.

You could find a hook hanger among the accessories. First attach the hook hanger onto the top of the UFO high bay light, then tighten the screws on the side to secure the hanger.

Step 4. Hanging the UFO high bay light

Use the hook hanger to hang the UFO high bay light onto the mounted hook. Install the hook first if there isn’t one already.

Step 5. Connecting the dimmer

If the UFO high bay light you bought has dimming feature, you can see two  extra wires to connect to your dimmer (dimmer not included), so you could adjust the light of the UFO high bay light as needed. The purple wire represents “+” adjustment, the gray wire represents “-“ adjustment. Of course, if you don’t need the dimming feature, you could choose not to use the two wires.

Step 6. Turning on the power

The UFO LED high bay light installs easily. After connecting it to the switch,  you could turn the power back on and it will be ready to use.

2. Ceiling Mount

You can also mount the lights onto the ceiling using a U-shaped bracket. Compared to the above mentioned hoop hanger method, you will need to prepare your own U-shaped bracket. Also you can use this type of frame to adjust the angles. We recommend this method of mounting if you are particular about the lighting angle.

Step 1. Cutting the power

Same as before, the first step is to turn off the power. Do not operation when power is turned on.

Step 2. Connecting Wires

Same connection method as above, and connect to the AC power with the live wire, neutral line and ground wire.

Step 3. Mounting the U-shaped bracket

Mount the U-shaped bracket on both sides of the UFO LED high bay light with screws and make sure the light can be hung with the frame.

Step 4. Hanging the U-shaped bracket

Measure the distance between the two holes on the U-shaped bracket, and mark the ceiling. Drill a small hole on the wall using a drill of the same diameter as the plastic expansion tube. Hammer in the expansion tube, tightened the screws through U-shaped bracket and secure the bracket on the ceiling. The UFO LED high bay light will thus be suspended.

Step 5. Connecting the dimmer

Connect the wires on the light to a dimmer if needed.

Step 6. Adjusting the angle and turn on the power

Adjust the angle of the light via the U-shaped bracket, then connect the switch and turn of the power.

3. 1/2’’ NPT Mount

Apart from the methods above, you could also use a 1/2” NPT to mount the UFO LED high bay light. A steel pipe and brackets are used to hang the light, instead of mounting the bracket directly to the ceiling.

This is a easy way to install. First, secure the bracket onto the light, then unscrew the 1/2” NPT nut, connect the steel pipe and the bracket, tighten the 1/2” NPT nut, so that you can hang the steel pipe up. Afterwards you could follow the steps above to connect the light to AC power, and check the lighting result.

All 3 installation methods are applicable to Lepro UFO LED high bay light. You can choose one according to the actual situation.
